Mergers and Acquisitions: How Long Will It Take to Sell My Business?
At Janas Corp, that is one of the most frequently asked questions we receive regarding mergers and acquisitions. For our clients who come to us seeking to sell their companies, this is their number one concern, closely followed by, how much will I get?
Every mergers and acquisitions client is different and every once in a lifetime transaction is unique, but generally, a 100% sale to an unrelated third party is anticipated to take approximately nine months from the engagement of an investment bank to closing.
The goal is to have sufficient time to create an auction environment where the best price and terms can be achieved. That is where we come in. The Janas Corp team of dedicated professionals brings experience in all aspects of financing and structuring for mergers and acquisitions to middle market companies and divisions of major corporations.
When the owner engages an intermediary such as Janas, we undertake to develop an extensive group of potential buyers to include both private equity groups and strategic buyers. We have excellent connections in the markets we serve. Janas takes care of every aspect of the process, often including financing for strategic buyers to acquire the company.
Also, one should note that not all mergers and acquisitions clients ultimately wants or needs a full sale. There are alternative structures which may include management buyout, succession planning or a partial sale. We have negotiated transactions that allow an owner to reduce risk (take some chips off the table) yet increase working capital for growth and continue to manage the company. Janas can help in making the decision that is right for you.
Mergers and acquisitions is not always about faceless corporations. More typically, mergers and acquisitions involve real people in a once in a lifetime transaction after a long history of building their companies. How long will it take? How much will you get? Contact us. We can help.
